The Dunedin City Council is the local authority for the wider Dunedin area, which covers 3340 square kilometers from north of Waikouaiti to the Taieri River in the South and inland to Hyde.

We provide a range of facilities, including playgrounds, reserves, pools, libraries, an art gallery and a museum. Our services range from registering dogs to urban design, collecting rubbish to funding community groups and plenty in between meaning no two days in HR are the same!

This is a broad role, where you will partner with a specific portfolio within the Council, working alongside them to support teams to enhance their capability and performance through strategic and tactical HR solutions. Supporting General Managers and their leadership teams to enhance capability and performance in their area, you will have excellent stakeholder management skills and bring a wealth of generalist knowledge to the table. From workforce planning, HR advice and ER through to restructures, understanding metrics, managing risk and ensuring forward planning is undertaken to allow the business to meet its objectives through annual and long-term plans.

Additional to your portfolio, you will also be the specialist in Organisational Development for the Council. Working with the other HR Business Partners who have their own specialities and portfolios, you will apply your skills to their portfolios and organisational wide as required. While you will be the subject matter expert, you will also be backed up by our HR Operations team which help deliver HR projects, analytics and support as required and will have the collegial support and assistance of the wider team.
