Senior Policy Manager – Maori

The Dunedin City Council are looking for a Kaiwhakamāherehere/Senior Policy Manager Māori to join us in this key strategic position. With a wealth of knowledge of kaupapa Māori and a good technical understanding of the Te Tiriti o Waitangi including its application to local government, you will provide timely and accurate advice to DCC staff and leadership, as well as to elected officials.

A key element of this role will be focused on continuing to develop the understanding and awareness of kaupapa Māori across the wider organisation, resulting in greater staff capability and organisational change. You will also lead the development of a strategic direction around Te Tiriti o Waitangi as we journey towards our vision of being one of the World's great small cities.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, you will be actively participating with senior leaders across the council as you provide them with strong strategic insight and assist them to align our culture with the Council's values.

As well as your knowledge of kaupapa Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi, you will have previous experience working at a strategic level and be able to demonstrate a track record of affecting positive change within an organisation. A working knowledge of Te Reo would be advantageous.
